Though making money online used to be taboo, today, there are so many ways to make real income while working at your computer. Whether you are working full-time and want to make a few extra bucks online, or if you’re looking to create your own online business, there are so many possibilities that allow you to make money online from the comfort of your own home.

Here are 10 ways to make money online.

1.) Start a Blog

As a blogger, I can’t suggest enough that you start a blog. Blogging is a lot of work, but it has taught me so much about marketing, coding, writing, and sales. There are multiple ways to make money blogging, like advertising, sponsorships, and affiliate marketing, which makes it a solid opportunity.

2.) Freelance Writing

You can make money online by offering freelance writing services. I love freelance writing because it is my business that I operate from home. I can choose what websites I want to write for, what topics I want to write about, and how much to charge.

My favorite thing about freelance writing is the flexibility. I can write for companies or other websites, and writers are in-demand. I do it all on my own terms, and it has turned a hobby into a business.

3.) Take Surveys

While you might not get rich by taking surveys online, but it’s a great way to make money on your computer while sitting in front of the television.

Some of the best survey sites to use are American Consumer Opinion, Swagbucks, Pinecone Research, and InboxDollars. All are free to sign up!

4.) Become a Social Media Manager

If you’re social media savvy, you can offer social media management services from people and make good money doing it. Many bloggers today are hiring social media managers to handle their Twitter, Facebook, Instagram, or Pinterest pages.

You can agree with your clients on how many hours you will work each week and can charge hourly for your services. This makes it a perfect option for anyone wanting to only work a few extra hours a week or for someone looking for a full-time opportunity.

5.) Etsy

Etsy is an online marketplace for people to sell their products and handmade items on. So, if you’re creative and enjoy making and selling your products, Etsy is the perfect platform for you.

You can find just about anything on sale on Etsy – handmade jewelry, website templates, clothing, pillows, linens, cups, and the list goes on and on.

Etsy makes it easy to sell because you don’t have to go find clients yourself. Clients are easily able to search for you or your products.

Etsy can also be a fairly passive way to make money if you sell the right item. I know people who sell printable templates on Etsy and it is extremely passive income for them. They simply design a template and upload it to Etsy. Buyers then go and buy and download the template. So only one product has to be made and can be downloaded again and again. Talk about easy income!

6.) Sell Items on Craigslist

One easy and surprising way to make extra money is to sell random household items you have hanging around on Craigslist.

Personally, I always thought selling items on Craigslist seemed like so much work, so I would donate or throw out items instead. This was a huge waste! I so easily could have sold an item for money and prevented it from going into a landfill.

You might be surprised what can sell and how much you can sell items for. I’ve made thousands of dollars by selling what I considered to be junk.

OfferUp and Facebook buy-sell-trade groups are also excellent resources for selling items, so don’t
feel limited by Craigslist.

7.) Become a Virtual Assistant

Many bloggers and business owners are in the market for virtual assistants. A virtual assistant wears all hats and might find themselves helping with social media, replying to blog comments, responding to email, arranging travel, doing technical work, or even graphic design. A virtual assistant is like a personal or executive assistant, but they do it completely online.

8.) Become an Online Bookkeeper

Just as people hire virtual assistants and social media managers, if you have any accounting experience, you can make a business out of offering your bookkeeping services online.

Many clients are small business owners and don’t want to have to pay to outsource their bookkeeping to a large company or buy expensive software. They might lack the knowledge to do it themselves, so there is a market gap for individual bookkeeping services.

While you don’t need any official accounting experience or certifications to start your own online bookkeeping services, you do have to have a solid understanding of math and accounting.

9.) Sell Stock Photos

If you’re wanting another fairly passive way to make money online, selling stock photos could be a good option for you.

Anyone with photography skills and equipment can take stock photos. If you google stock photos, you’ll find that they really are photos of just about anything. You simply take photos and upload them to a website and charge people to download them. Once you take, edit, and upload one photo, there really isn’t much else you have to do to earn money.

10.) Build Websites

For anyone with tech skills, you can offer your website building services at a premium.

Most bloggers and small business owners don’t have the skill or time to build their websites from scratch and have all the features they need. This is where you come in. You can either design website templates to sell (you could even sell templates on Etsy) or you can offer full customization for a high price.
