A Bit About The Book
A few years back I discovered David Carlson and his book, Hustle Away Debt, through a Martinis and Your Money podcast by Shannon McClay of Financially Blonde. After hearing the post I immediately ordered David’s book and poured through it.
Readability
Although the book is almost 3/4″ thick, it’s not cover to cover packed with text. Hustle Away Debt is chock full of clever graphics, highlighting David’s points. That being said, it’s an easy read that’s intertaining and informative.
The Gist of It
When David got married he and his wife Victoria’s combined school debt was around $100,000.00. Yep, that’s 100K. With so much debt, David and Vitoria’s income was taking a hit each month to pay off the debt.
David decided that it was time to do something to supplement their income and began side hustling in addition to his job. One of his most interesting side hustles has been playing poker for money, not something that I could pull off.
In 2012, David founded Young Adult Money dot Com, sharing financial tidbits with the general public. He often wrote about side hustles and was eventully offered a deal to write a book on his experiences and insight.
Thus, Hustle Away Debt came to be.
Although my wife and I have no where near the debt that David and Victoria have, I’m always open to money making ideas and I’ve have found the book to be full of great ideas.
In fact, I was so impressed by the book and David in the podcast with Shannon that I reached out to him and we’ve been communicating off and own for over a year.
David continues to be a mentor in my adventures in blogging.
