5 Affordable Fall Date Ideas

Fall is a week away and with fall comes an entire new season of different activities. As a New Yorker, I get to experience all four seasons more than some of the other parts of the country and I try to embrace that. Going out to dinner can get expensive and old after a while, so I try to spice things up by finding seasonal date ideas. That being said, I’m sharing 5 affordable fall date ideas.

Apple/Pumpkin Picking

Apple and Pumpkin are the fruits of the fall season! So, what better way to celebrate fall then going with your significant other to a local farm or elsewhere and picking your own apples and pumpkins. Make sure to bring home enough to decorate your house for fall AND bake with. A few ideas for apple or pumpkin foods to make: apple or pumpkin pie, pumpkin soup, apple crisp and homemade apple cider.

Visit Your Local Farmer’s Market

In New York, Fall is prime time for farmer’s markets, as it is the season when a lot of fruits and vegetables are harvested. Take your significant other out to the farmer’s market in or near your town to support your local businesses. You can enjoy some treats right there or bring them home to snack on or cook with together.

Get Spooked at a Haunted House

It wouldn’t be Fall without Halloween. No matter what town you live in, you are most likely within driving distance of some form of a haunted house. While some haunted attractions can be even more expensive than going on to dinner, you can likely find reasonably priced haunted houses to visit near you. Take advantage of these during this time of year because there’s only a few weeks out of the year that these haunted attractions are around.

Attend a Football Game

What’s more Fall than football? There are football games that appeal to all different budgets. You can go to a local high school game, college game or a NFL game. The further away your seats are, the cheaper your tickets will be. The best part of attending a football game is the tailgate. Bonus: tailgating costs much less than the food inside the stadium!

Go Hiking

Fall foliage is absolutely gorgeous and there is truly no better way to experience it than to go for a hike. I think all of the best views come from up high. What better way to view the various colors of the leaves on the trees than from the top of a mountain looking down over it all?
